Barbeque Sauce


Barbeque Sauce comes in as many variations as does the spelling of barbecue.

Here's my recipe for a mustard-based (South Carolina) version:

in a blender  or with my favorite kitchen gadget: the immersion hand blender

1 cup Vegetable Oil
1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
6 tablespoons Dijon Mustard
3 tablespoons maple syrup
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1-2 canned chipotles in adobo (not the whole can - just one or two of the peppers inside the can - and add a little of the adobo sauce the peppers are packed in)


Jackie C. thinks I should be selling this sauce at a Farmer's Market near you (she and Olivia and Julia were lapping it up by the handful - literally!)

And don't forget to serve it in some leftover bottle of something else...
